September in Tuscany:
A Journey to Remember
As I write this, Kelly and I are on the train heading south to begin our Autumn in Amalfi journey tomorrow. It feels like the perfect time to pause and look back on the Tuscany trip that wrapped up just a couple of days ago. Ten days in the heart of Italy with 17 energetic travelers—each of them kind, punctual, adventurous, and eager to soak in everything Tuscany has to offer.

A Group That Became Family
Most of our travelers typically come from the Pittsburgh area, but this group was bit more diverse. We welcomed a couple from Massachusetts, another from Florida, and two wonderful ladies from Australia who quickly became part of the family. One night in Cinque Terre, we were joined by 10 Swedish women, artists who brought an extra burst of energy and laughter to the party. Watching everyone mingle so naturally reminded me why these journeys are about more than itineraries—they’re about people. And places.

This trip also carried a celebratory spirit. Several birthdays (including mine) happened to fall during the journey—lots of Virgos in the mix—and we had not one, but two couples, marking their 42nd wedding anniversaries, just days apart. Seeing everyone sing and raise a glass in their honor was a reminder that these trips can be more than a vacation; they can be a meaningful way to celebrate milestones and create lasting memories together.
By the end of the trip, I noticed hugs lingering longer, conversations deepening, and even a few tears as we hugged and said our goodbyes. To me, that’s the clearest sign that what we’re doing goes far beyond sightseeing or eating delicious food. These tours create bonds, friendships, and moments that stay with people long after the bags are unpacked.
Evenings at Home
This Tuscany tour is unique in that it gives me the chance to cook for our guests at Villa La Civetta, my home in the hills near Lucca. Sharing an evening with the travelers in this way isn’t just about food—it’s about opening a door into my own life here in Italy. From what I could see, these nights were as meaningful to the guests as they were to me.

Looking Ahead
With Tuscany behind us, Kelly and I now turn our focus to Amalfi, our final journey of the year. Looking further ahead, 2026 is already taking shape—Tuscany in May is nearly sold out, Amalfi is filling quickly, and new adventures are in the works to places like The Dolomites, Puglia, The Veneto and Lake Garda, Emilia Romagna and even Sicily.

Closing Reflections
When I think back on this Tuscany trip, the word that comes to mind isn’t just “gratitude”—though I feel that deeply. It’s connection. The connection between travelers from different corners of the world, between our guests and the local hosts who welcomed us, and between each of us and this incredible region of Italy.
I feel fortunate to share these places, these meals, and these stories with people who are open to experiencing Italy layer by layer. To those who joined us in Tuscany—thank you for making it so memorable. And to those considering the future: we can’t wait to welcome you to the table.

Tuscany in September felt timeless—golden hills, rich flavors, and history at every turn. But what made it unforgettable were the people who became family.
